Senator Scott Hutchinson is urging residents to take their comments about plans to toll bridges on Pennsylvania interstate highways to PENNDOT officials during the agency’s telephone town hall meeting set for 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
“I strongly oppose the tolling plan and we’ve heard from a substantial number of citizens who also believe PENNDOT should reevaluate the use of its current resources instead of imposing what in essence is just another tax on motorists,” Senator Hutchinson. “This town hall is focused on PENNDOT’s funding options, making it an excellent venue for citizens to make sure their views on the tolling plan are heard.”
There are three ways to join the town hall:

In addition to the telephone town hall, PENNDOT is accepting comments:
- Online at: www.penndot.gov/funding, click on “virtual public meeting” and scroll to the bottom of the page to access the comment section. The public comment period for this virtual meeting closes on June 1;

On February 18, PENNDOT unveiled a plan to toll nine bridges. The proposed toll for passenger vehicles is yet to be decided, with commercial vehicles likely paying a higher toll. Proposed tolling locations include:
- Interstate 78 in Berks County.
- Interstate 79 in Allegheny County.
- Interstate 80 in Clarion, Carbon, Jefferson, and Luzerne counties.
- Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County.
- Interstate 83 in Dauphin County.
- Interstate 95 in Philadelphia.
