Child Development Centers, Inc. of Venango County will receive a $75,000 Early Childhood Education Community Innovation Zone Grant from the state to support its work with Hasson Heights Elementary School (Oil City Area School District), according to Senator Scott Hutchinson.
The grant is intended to build upon and expand successful programs to connect early childhood providers, families and schools.
“I am pleased that Governor Corbett sees the benefits of early childhood education and in particular this partnership between Child Development Centers and Hasson Heights Elementary School,” said Senator Hutchinson. “Investing in early childhood education not only gives youngsters a better chance to succeed in life, but it ultimately saves taxpayers’ money in the long run. At-risk children who participate in early childhood education programs are significantly less likely to be retained a grade in school, and that alone results in thousands of dollars in real savings per child, per year.”
